Celebrating diversity in education

At LALI Services, our vision is to see every child, teen, and adult reach their full potential through quality, targeted, and explicit intervention. This intervention enables greater participation in the learning environments, as well as increased academic confidence.

With lived experience

A message from our Founder

“Hi, I’m Jennifer — a qualified Primary School Teacher and passionate educator. I’m also the parent of a child with autism, ADHD, Auditory Processing Disorder, and language delays. As such, I know the challenges parents of children with Specific Learning Disorders face, and that education in these areas can feel very demanding and isolating. That’s why I started LALI.

Every student receives high-quality educational intervention from a nurturing tutor with lived experience parenting a child with Specific Learning Disorders. As well as being a private tutoring service, we have a network of specialist allied health professionals. In other words, LALI is central connection point that can advise you on where to turn if you’re feeling lost or that your child needs a little extra support.

It would be a privilege to work alongside your child. I hope to hear from you soon!”

About Jaye Christie, Professional Tutor

"I am a compassionate, reflective and highly effective Secondary Teacher.

I have over twenty years' experience across a range of educational settings, including Primary, Secondary, Education Support, and Adult and Continuing Education. My main area of expertise is in upper school, having been a Senior Teacher of English and English as an Additional Language or Dialect (ATAR and General courses) for the past decade.

Relationships are at the heart of my work. I am a neuro-affirming and responsive educator who prioritises the psycho-social safety of every learner. To this end, I adopt an evidence-based approach and have engaged in a wide range of professional learning, including the Berry Street Education Model and Dr Ross Greene's CPS model.

Throughout my career, I have been privileged to work with young people from diverse contexts, allowing me to develop an extensive repertoire of instructional strategies. Having undertaken professional learning with Emeritus Professor Dylan Wiliam, I am also highly skilled around reflective practice and effective feedback delivery, embedding this into every session.

As part of a previous role, in which I was a mentor for a group of beginning Teachers, I undertook professional learning to develop my coaching skills. I also recently completed additional training to become a Coach Practitioner. The skills and strategies acquired through this professional development compliment my pedagogy, enhancing the overall experience for learners.

I have an intricate knowledge of the nuances and complexities of modern classroom environments. I am committed to working closely with you, as the parent/caregiver, to provide high quality support, to maximise your child's potential.

As part of my services, I can assist your child to develop their skills in the following areas:

  • reading & viewing comprehension
  • critical literacy
  • deconstructing questions
  • grammar & syntax
  • brainstorming & planning
  • essay writing
  • creative & interpretive writing
  • synthesising information
  • understanding task sheets & marking rubrics
  • academic skills (e.g. research, referencing)
  • general study skills
  • goal setting."

About Claire McGee, Professional Tutor

"I am a primary school teacher with over 20 years of experience implementing a number of different curriculums.

During this time, I have taken on a variety of roles; working as a class teacher, a learning support teacher and an ‘Intervention and Prevention’ teacher, supporting children with emotional, social and behavioural needs.

My 1:1 work has included teaching anxious children and neurodivergent children including those with dyslexia, ADD, ASD and Down Syndrome. This has taken various forms, with support being both in and out of the classroom, leading to improved participation and success in class.

I am passionate about supporting students who struggle with foundational literacy and numeracy skills and understand their needs and the barriers they can face. Without a strong foundation, it can be difficult for students to reach their full potential which may lead to them becoming disillusioned and discouraged, thereby making school even more of a challenge.

I create a nurturing, supportive environment where students thrive and build up their self-esteem. They are able to develop skills, resilience and self-belief, enabling them to tackle challenges with increased confidence.

To this end, lessons are individually tailored. Objectives are made clear to the student and lessons are structured, systematic and well-paced, with multi-sensory activities and over-learning to ensure deeper learning and retention. This allows students to transfer their learning from the tutoring sessions to the classroom and beyond.

I am committed to continuing professional development and strive to be well informed of best practice and current research in the areas in which I work.

I incorporate student needs into my personal development plan and am keen to work closely with parents and schools in order to provide the best possible service."
